Cape Cod Things To Do
There are a lot of great boat trips and cruises available on the waters surrounding Cape Cod.
Whether you want to do some deep sea fishing, go whale watching or just cruise the harbors – there are several operators ready to serve you. But, if you are looking for a great river cruise, a boat might be harder to find.
That’s where Water Safaris comes in.
Water Safaris is the only company on Cape Cod offering river cruises of the Bass River – an all-salt tidal waterway that separates Dennis and Yarmouth.
Aboard their vessel, a custom built flat bottomed boat named The Starfish, Captain Cliff Smith takes you on a 90-minute journey down the historic river and offers commentary on everything there is to know about the waterway and the sites that border it.
Cruisin’ The Bass River Waterway
At one time the Bass River was the Cape’s busiest commercial shipping route. Now, though, the traffic is comprised mainly of fishing and pleasure boats skimming through the cool calm waters and majestic homes that line both banks. Passengers of The Starfish will also see some of the Cape’s historic windmills and lighthouses as well as wildlife like egret, terns and herons.
Refreshments, including a full bar, are available aboard the vessel which runs daily from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
If you are interested in joining Water Safaris for a cruise, make sure to call ahead to make reservations. Be sure to know the date and time you wish to cruise as well as the number of passengers, including infants, when calling.
