Want to explore one of the best Cape Cod attractions in the region?
Think potato chips.
There is hardly anyone, young or old, large or small, who doesn’t enjoy the crunchy salty goodness of a potato chip. And, as far as potato chips go, you’d be hard pressed to find a place that produces chips as good as those produced by the Cape Cod Potato Chips at their Hyannis factory.
Since 1980, the Cape Cod Potato Chips has been producing the beloved slightly greasy kettle cooked snack food, as well as popcorn, pretzels and other snacks, for chip fans all across the country. And, since the factory is open to the public, you can now take a tour of the facilities and see what all goes into those little round wafers of potato-y goodness.
Visitors to the Cape Cod Potato Chips factory can view the entire chip producing process from behind a glass partition on self guided tours. The tour takes about thirty minutes and offers a look at every step of the process from inspection to peeling to frying to bagging.
As you watch the employees perform their chiply duties, you will also learn a number of interesting facts about the potato making process such as how many potatoes it takes to make a pound of chips. Or find out the amazing number of potatoes the plant uses in just one year.
Then comes the final, and in my humble opinion, most awesome step of the tour, the eating of the chips. All visitors receive a free bag of chips at the end of the tour and some people even manage to leave the building with chips left in the bag.
On one of your next Cape Cod vacation packages take a tour of the Cape Cod Potato Chips’ Hyannis factory and be more than just a potato chip fan, be a potato chip aficionado.

Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard » Tsaiberspace – Friday we went to the Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory. It was very underwhelming. The potato chips are great, but the “tour” is just a 5-minute walk through a hallway where you can read artistically-handmade posters and see the potato chip …
GrubGrade | Down But Not Out: A Kettle Chip Throwdown Extravaganza – They had a good, thick bite, but like the Cape Cod chips they left me searching for a definite and robust potato flavor. My mom must have had a better batch, saying that there was some “good flavor” in the chips, but she was turned off …

We did this short tour when we were visiting Cape Cod this summer… great little tour, GREAT chips! Try the russet, they are the best!
