Since 1980, the Cape Cod Potato Chips has been producing the beloved slightly greasy kettle cooked snack food, as well as popcorn, pretzels and other snacks, for chip fans all across the country. And, since the factory is open to the public, you can now take a tour of the facilities and see what all goes into those little round wafers of potato-y goodness.

Visitors to the Cape Cod Potato Chips factory can view the entire chip producing process from behind a glass partition on self guided tours. The tour takes about thirty minutes and offers a look at every step of the process from inspection to peeling to frying to bagging.

As you watch the employees perform their chiply duties, you will also learn a number of interesting facts about the potato making process such as how many potatoes it takes to make a pound of chips. Or find out the amazing number of potatoes the plant uses in just one year.

Then comes the final, and in my humble opinion, most awesome step of the tour, the eating of the chips. All visitors receive a free bag of chips at the end of the tour and some people even manage to leave the building with chips left in the bag.
