Touring Cape Cod On Horseback
Cape Cod Things To Do
I can remember few things from childhood family vacations that were as thrilling as the times we went horseback riding. There is just something about horses. Kids love them. And, between you and me, it’s still a heck of a lot of fun when you’re an adult.
Horseback riding has been a staple of fun filled family vacations for years and on Cape cod there are numerous places where you can still enjoy this thrilling family-oriented outdoor activity.
Horseback Riding On A Cape Cod
One of the best places for horseback riding on the Cape is Emerald Hollow Farm in Brewster. Emerald Hollow offers rides along trails that dissect beautiful woods and pristine conservation land.
The farm itself is a family-run business that puts emphasis on both fun and safety.
Rides, led by owner Nancy Sheridan and her daughter Nicole, feature horses that are well mannered and steady to ensure safety. And you can also be sure that the horses are clean, healthy and well cared for by family members who take pride in their business and their animals.
Due to the level of care given to the horses – and the riders – Emerald Hollow has been able to boast nine years of accident free operation. This is a rarity in a business where many less cared for businesses have had to close due to liability issues.
The trails at Emerald Hollow take riders through several hundred acres on the Punkhorn Parklands Conservation Area. The Sheridans also lead groups to Eagle Point, looking down on Upper Mill pond.
Though open year round, summer bookings should be done early. Rides in the off season, however, are easier to come by and a great addition to a relaxing fall, winter or spring Cape Cod vacation package.
