Feast your eyes on the slow food movement.
It’s coming to Cape Cod!
Join The Movement!
If slow food is something you’ve always been curious about, now is the time to experience it for yourself.
A group called Slow Food Cape Cod is honoring the end of the Cape Land and Sea Harvest (CLASH) by hosting a shared meal, featuring a bounty of Cape Cod’s locally grown food.
The setting for the bountiful feast is right there at the source – outdoors in a field at the Cape Cod Organic Farm.
Slow Food Cape Cod has organized a group of chefs, farmers, fishermen, wine makers, cheese artisans, bean roasters, brewers, and musicians to unite for an afternoon of slow food education and, of course, eating.
When: September 27th, 3pm – until dark.
The idea of the slow food movement is to gain a better understanding of the connection between the earth and the food on our plate. Enjoy a leisurely meal with other slow food movers and shakers – and get educated about what you’re eating.
A Memorable Feast
The 5-course meal with be paired with local wines from Cape Cod vineyards.
Here are just some of the offerings:
- Les Hemmila, Barnstable Seafarms and Laura Scheel from Out of the Blue will set up a raw bar of both Barnstable and Wellfleet Oysters.
- Joe Dunn, of The Island Merchant will create an amazing soup.
- Stephen Skelton, from The Glass Onion is going to prepare a pasta dish.
- Jerome Watkins from Lyric will showcase the farms’ fresh vegetables throughout the meal.
- Liam Luttrell-Rowland from LunaSoul Foods is the man at the helm for the catch from the sea.
- Peter Hyde, Blue Moon Bistro is on the grill with the meat, secured from NEFF (North East Family Farm).
- Veronica Worthington, Pleasant Lake Farm will create the salad, accompanied by an assortment of New England farmstead cheeses.
- Paul Olaf Lively, from Chef Paul’s Truffles will wow the crowd with the finale, followed by coffee from The Beanstock Roasters.
