Free Cape Cod Attractions in the Winter
Cape Cod is certainly known for it’s amazing Cape Cod Hotel Packages, beach strolls, clam bakes, and antique shopping, but what’s there to do when the weather is just too cold for outdoor activities? The answer: A lot! There are some terrific indoor Cape Cod attractions that also happen to be absolutely FREE.
Here are the top free Cape Cod attractions to see in the winter:
Woods Hole Science Aquarium: Located at the westernmost tip of the Cape, the Woods Hole Science Aquarium is the country’s oldest continuously operating research aquarium. Exhibits feature 140 species of fish and invertebrates from local and mid-Atlantic waters, including a striking cobalt-blue lobster.
Cape Cod Potato Chip Company: Get the skinny on how Cape Cod’s famous kettle cooked potato chips are made at the Cape Cod Potato Chip Company in Hyannis. Visitors can watch the entire process and taste the crunchy products for themselves.
Church of the Configuration: Located in Rock Harbor, Orleans features extraordinary architecture. The basilican form was chosen to express the church’s monastic vocation and ecumenical vision. The interior artwork combines handcrafted mosaic, fresco, stone and bronze sculpture, and stained glass to illustrate the life of Christ, stories from the Bible, and historic Christian symbols. Free tours are offered.
What are your plans for your next trip to Cape Cod? Family Cape Cod accommodations are affordable, and there are certainly enough free Cape Cod activities to keep the whole family happy (and warm) during the cold winter months.
