Summer may be winding down on Cape Cod, but festival season is just beginning to heat up.
September is the first month of fun fall festivals – and all of them offer a little something for everyone, including some good eats!
Some festival goers are day-trippers, some are weekend adventurers and many are locals looking to take a break and enjoy some good entertainment and maybe even get in some pre-holiday shopping.
And it goes without saying, the kids will love the rides, parades and, of course, the fireworks!
Cape Cod Festivals In September
Here’s the full line-up of things to do around Cape Cod in September.
- Eastham Windmill Weekend (Sept. 10 – 12): This is a mainstay of the Cape Cod fall festival season. Events include a sand art competition, classic car show, craft fair, entertainment & food on the Windmill Town Green.
- Harwich Folk Festival (Sept. 18-19): The musical lineup will feature a mix of musical styles (folk, bluegrass, rock n’roll) performed by professional musicians from Cape Cod. Bring a blanket or chair.
- Truro Treasures Weekend (Sept. 17 -19): Look for a silent art auction, car show, 5K walk/run, photo contest, craft fair and much more. The weekend culminates in a Grape Stomp & Jazz Festival on Sunday afternoon at Truro Vineyards.
- Bourne Scallop Festival (Sept. 24 -26): Dubbed the “Largest Scallop Festival on the East Coast,” the weekend is filled with music, entertainment, over 125 crafters and merchants, children’s rides and games and, of course, scallops. Chicken and other items are also available for you landlubbers.
- Cape Cod Land and Sea Harvest (Sept. 24 – 26): This festival is an ode to local produce, seafood, libations & more. Participating restaurants will offer special tasting menus showcasing local ingredients.
