When the warm sun gives way to clouds and rain on Cape Cod – don’t fear! Your family Cape Cod family vacation package is hardly ruined! In fact, it may even get better.
Rainy days on Cape Cod are the perfect times to head indoors and explore some of the regions finest tourist attractions. And, among them? Cape Cod aquariums!
Woods Hole Science Aquarium
One of the oldest aquariums in the country, the Woods Hole Science Aquarium will fill your kids faces with wonder and amazement for an entire day as they meander through displays of 140 species of marine animals – all of which can be found in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic waters.
The aquarium also features:
- Seal feedings.
- Exhibit cases with bones, skulls, and teeth.
- Touch tanks full of lobsters, horseshoe crabs, quahogs, starfish, hermit and spider crabs.
- Information about marine environments and marine science.
Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
Zooquarium
This awesome Cape Cod attraction is a zoo and an aquarium rolled into one!
The Zooquarium features a real petting zoo where children can meet goats, deer, and llamas. There’s also an aquarium chock-full of local marine animals – from stripers to lobsters, frogs to turtles. The aquarium also has a tidal touch pool where visitors can put their hands on many critters that inhabit Cape Cod’s shoreline – like urchins, mussels, crabs, and starfish.
Don’t forget to duck into the Zoorific Theater and the Children’s Discovery Center where you can actually take part in exhibits and learn all about other wildlife, like alligators and skunks.
