There’s no question about it – beaches are big hot spots here on Cape Cod.

A Cape Cod beach is nothing like anything you’ll see up and down the eastern seaboard. They are clean, safe, and best of all – they are family-friendly.

But there are a few things you should know about Cape Cod beaches before you book your vacation:

• The beaches that face Cape Cod Bay have the least surf. The tides go out for miles and small children are very safe there.
• The southside beaches facing Nantucket Sound have small wave action, but are still very safe for toddlers.
• The east-facing beaches on the Atlantic Ocean have larger surf and undertows. Children should be supervised there at all times. These beaches though are a big hit with teens and adults.
