Sure, there are many things to do and see around Cape Cod – but nothing is more special than seeing a spectacular Cape Cod sunset. No matter what time of year you choose to visit, Cape Cod’s coastline is an ideal backdrop for a sunset – even in the middle of winter!
One of our favorite places to catch a beach sunset on Cape Cod is at Herring Cove within the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Romantic Herring Cove
Tucked just around the corner from Race Point on the Atlantic Ocean, Herring Cove is on the Cape Cod Bay side, with warmer, calmer waters for swimming.
Oddly enough, because of its position on the bay – facing west – Herring Cove is one of the few places on the east and north sides of Cape Cod where you can watch the sunset over the water. It’s also an ideal spot for watching dolphins, whales, and seal because they often pass through the area on their way to feed in the bay or to head back out into the Atlantic.
Biking At Herring Cove
The bike trail that winds through Cape Cod National Seashore’s Provincelands takes you right up to the parking lot at Herring Cove. From there you can leave your bike and have a swim or stroll on the beach.
For those with limited mobility, Herring Cove is one of the most accessible beaches in the Cape Cod National Seashore. The parking lot is literally on the beach allowing everyone to enjoy the seashore – and the sunset!
Couples Cape Cod Vacations
Cape Cod MA has always been a fantastic spot for an impromptu couples retreat. Book a room at one of the many luxurious Cape Cod hotels, grab a bottle of wine… and head out to the beach to watch an amazing Cape Cod sunset.
Romantic getaways are a great way to connect with your significant other and, well, there is really no where else in New England that’s quite as romantic as Cape Cod. Come here and see for yourself!
